Gen Z & the Ballot: Civic Power Hour

  • 3025 Dupont Street Flint, MI, 48504 United States (map)

"Gen Z & the Ballot: Civic Power Hour is an interactive workshop designed to activate and empower Flint youth and first-time voters to understand their political power at the local and national level. The session will break down the basics of how government works, what’s on the ballot in upcoming elections, and how policy decisions directly impact issues youth care about, like education, environmental justice, public safety, and housing.

We’ll start with a short “Government 101” explainer and walk participants through real-life scenarios of how a bill becomes a law, who represents them, and how to speak up through voting and public comment. Youth will also participate in a mock city council vote activity to practice decision-making and advocacy.

We’ll also have:

  • Voter Registration Booth (on-site registration & absentee ballot help)

  • Ballot Breakdown Station (with sample ballots and guides)

  • Civic Trivia & Prizes

  • 'My Vote Counts' Sticker Station for DIY civic pride badges

  • Snacks and swag bags provided. Open to ages 14-25, with rides available upon request.
